East Barnet School

Who's Who on the East Barnet Governing Body?

Our team is made up of:

  • Five Community Governors, invited by the Governing Body to become members, usually because of specialist knowledge and skills which may be useful to the school, such as solicitors or architects.
  • Four LEA Governors, nominated by the main political parties and appointed by the Local Council.
  • Seven Parent Governors, elected by a ballot of the parents and guardians of pupils.
  • School Management is represented by the Headteacher. The Deputy Heads are non-voting members.
  • Staff Governor, elected by a ballot of the non-teaching staff.
  • Two Teacher Governors, elected by a ballot of the teaching staff.

A Chair of Governors and Vice Chair of Governors are elected annually by the Governing Body from within this group.

The normal term of office for governors is four years.
