East Barnet School

East Barnet School : A Technology College

East Barnet School achieved Technology College Status in March 2005. This provided additional funding to develop work carried out in the Design and Technology, Maths and Science Faculties and share best practice throughout the school. It also gave us the opportunity to develop and introduce new whole school strategies including the introduction of e-learning systems e.g. Sam Learning and the development of our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

Many teaching rooms have been equipped with Interactive Whiteboards and exciting new equipment such as Laser Cutters, has been purchased, to extend learning opportunities.

The curriculum has been extended to include new courses such as Catering and Construction, the later making good use of our Mobile Construction Workshop.

Strong links have been developed with our partner schools in the Primary and Secondary sector and our work in the Community extends to partnerships with Oaktree School and Friends in Need.

We have built upon a long and valuable partnership with Middlesex University to develop exciting learning materials. Professor John Cave, through his major involvement with Teaching Resources, a company set up by Middlesex University to produce high quality products to support learning in schools, assisted in the creation of Mission Possible, the Science and Technology EEE school programme at East Barnet School, and donated significant additional funding to allow teachers to trial new ideas.

Our intention is to become a Centre of Excellence in Technology in the broadest sense, a school without walls and an outstanding learning institution, a hub for technological training and development in our community.
